Here I Stand
Wondering when the smoke will clear
Hoping it will soon disappear
The cloud hanging over my head
Can't tell if love is near
I reach out blind
Trying to feel with my hands
No one is there
So here I stand
Speaking into the mist
I try to explain who I am
I hear a voice speaking back
Trying to explain who I am
The cloud begins to mistake me
As another from its past
Shaking me, accusing me, mad at me
But We have never been one so to whom are you referring may I ask
I've been mixed up, confused with,
Thought of as another
But take a moment to know me
I just may be your final lover
The fog's hands come out and grab me
Toss me in a bag with a bunch of others
Shaking me up to look like them
In with bamboozlers of every color
How do I escape
The hurt from the hands' past
You have mistaken my identity
I'm your true love at last
Scrapping and scratching
Clawing and pleading
Begging you to see
I'm not trying to be misleading
In silence, I tell my inner man
I just want to be in love
It sounds so simple
To place no one above
I thought this was what you wanted
It's what I heard you say
Yet here I stand offering
Willing to love you everyday
How did I mistake
What I thought you said you desired
Instead of getting to know me
You searched to see if you could make me a liar
Yet here I stand longing for you
To just give me a chance
To love you faithfully forever
And in love we can take our stance
Let me tell you all of my secrets
Writing my journal on your heart
Know every aspect of my being
Let's have nothing keep us apart
Yes, I'm asking you to be with me
Let me be your man
I'm leaving myself wide open
With extended arms in love, here I stand

Too Strong
Too Strong
Had me at hello
Lost me at goodbye
Trying to be a playa
But in reality just living a lie
Go ahead, play your game like Monopoly
But don’t forget, your playing with Milton-Bradley
You’re playing a game I’m creating
Means you’re perpetrating
Talking about the kids?
Aww shi…
Was that to make me fall
I’ve heard that from the best of y’all
Silence all critics
Tell em the butler did it
I’m not the one that’s naïve
The fruit was first tasted by Eve
Lies about forever
Weak lines are never clever
Line after line, lie after lie
Gimmick after gimmick
Even a prostitute at least gets paid for turning tricks
This week it’s Bob, John and Larry
Next week Tom, Dick and Harry
But when Harry met Sally
You became part of the tally
Fake relationships become bondage
Then you’re left as carnage
A treat for the birds
You’re a road-kill bump
That’s what I heard
I’m not too legit to quit
Just too wise to submit
And as I thought
A freak!
Anyone can get in your sheets
Spreading your legs like miracle whip
Claiming to be “Real”
Ain’t that a trip
Glad I followed my gut
I might have got burned
Since your legs can’t stay shut
Funny how they think you’re a fool
The truth always comes out
From the pigeon on the stool
Keep living in your wanna-be fantasy
Only to keep waking to your tricked out reality
Life is no joke
You’re a vapor, a cloud of smoke
Poof! Be gone!
I’m right where I belong
Thought you were slick and I was weak
But yet again I proved to be too strong
My wisdom gets better with maturity and age
This is where I drop the mic, kick the stand
And…
The crowd goes crazy as I walk off the stage…
BOOM!
Let Go
Gave so much that I’m drained
Tired of all the pain
The frustration level has no measure
All in the name of love, yet without pleasure
Mental capacity has been exceeded
Feeling of past hurts have been deleted
Thoughts of love lasting have been erased
Trails to my heart are now misplaced
Tried so hard to pick up the pieces
People renting space in my head
Sometimes multiple leases
The playa ain’t in me
So, I’m not like water and grease is
Just need a void in my heart filled
Simply something that pleases
Silhouette stands in the doorway
A subtle voice melts my heart away
The smile from the shadows is calming
Bells and whistles start alarming
Your caress and touch
Gives me goose bumps
Your soft lips make my heart pump
Tender love has my heart singing
What the…?
Is that church bells ringing?
Your scent has overtaken me
Trying to get the best of me
Waiting for my dreams to
Catch up with the rest of me
You reach out of the shadows
To our embrace
Vicki’s secret is out
As you stand before me in lace
Fading is the pain of my reality
While we move closer to our destiny
Walking on the water of the sunset’s aisle
If this world were mine, you could have it
In exchange for your smile
The joy you bring lights the fire inside
Your love kindling
Keeps the fire alive
Yes, I dare to dream
Of us in love revived
Out from our ashes where people left us for dead
Yet we never died
Stronger than three
Bonded from two
Risen as one
Now, let our true love… do what it do!
Love's Lighthouse
We sit on top of the lighthouse
Looking into the distance
The horizon blends its colors
We see beyond our existence
There’s a world out there we see
Take us there so we can feel
Traveling through the valleys
Over the hills
Couples walking
Hand in hand
Sharing an ice cream
Making footprints in the sand
Leaving a trail
Only love leaves behind
Blazing the trail
For you and I
How to walk love’s path
Has already been laid
Many have finished the course
And love remained
I want the young couples to watch us
And admire what we have
Teaching them the lessons of love
The type of love others wished they had
Let our children brag about
The years we’ve been together
Proudly telling their companions
That’s what they want from each other
Let our love
Bring love back to life
Let others envy
How we are a husband and a wife
Let the joy of our past
Ride the magic carpet into our today
While today we make tomorrows memories
That will help our love stay
Let our love for one another
Chip away at the hatred others may feel
Because they have not experienced
A love so true, so real
So let our love guide the way
Showing others loves shore
As our love flashes from the lighthouse
To a world of love forevermore

Love's Masquerade
I could tell you all of the stories
That would make you smile
I could recollect with you about the best comedians
That would have you laugh for awhile
I stand on the top of the mountain
Like Superman in his cape
Shoulders back and chest out far
With pride like only a hero could relate
I can tell you of my accomplishments
How I served my country and was proud
I can tell you my wars and battles
The loss of troops made me cry aloud
Then there’s the joy I have as a dad
Raising my kids is such a daunting task
But I could tell the funny things they do
And the silly questions they ask
My work is very important to me
Organization is the key
Sound leadership, good training
Creating success for the team
There’s my love for sports
That make me jump and cheer as I watch my favorite team play the game
The heartaches of when we lose
Screaming at the tv calling them names
My travels across the world
Seeing different cultures, new found respect I have for life
Appreciating what I have around me
Hard to see misery and strife
Oh how we bask in our laughter,
Useless flirtations, vain questions about our day
But, has anyone wanted to really know
How you feel today?
Love’s masquerade… It peeks from behind the mask
Of my life’s many views
But when I look in the mirror, regardless of the mask I wear
I can’t hide from my faults and me pointing in the mirror at you
The mask hides my hurt and pain
Let’s the world see my joy
The world never gets the chance to laugh
At the crying little boy
The mask hides the questions
My inner man wants to say
Instead the world only knows my knowledge
Always having the right thing to say
But for some reason… The mask only hides my face
But if you look into my eyes
If you look real close you’ll realize
I’m hurting deep inside
Love has ducked and dodged me
But I realize why now
Love doesn’t stop to ask
Because love only sees the mask
I’ve tried to ease it down
Let the world see my face
Only to be trodden down
In the mask of mire goes my face
But I want to try to show
Who I really am
But no one wants to care
Behind the mask there’s a real person, a man
But maybe you can’t see me
Because I can’t see you
Lay down the masks and show the world
The real me, the real you
That would make you smile
I could recollect with you about the best comedians
That would have you laugh for awhile
